The short answer: Multicoin Capital is real — but read this before you hand over any money

Multicoin Capital is a real crypto venture firm whose name is being worn by WhatsApp task scams and unregistered websites in Spain. These are the facts that check out on public registers — the complaint record is what our review is still working through:

  • Multicoin Capital is a known US crypto investment firm. It is not a retail broker, it does not recruit strangers into daily “tasks”, and it does not ask for a PayPal or crypto prepayment to unlock a balance.
  • Spain's CNMV warned on 12 January 2026 that an unregistered firm using the name MULTICOIN CAPITAL, promoted in WhatsApp groups at tilova.top and rcsl.it, is not authorised to provide investment services in Spain.
  • BBB Scam Tracker 1190747 (7 February 2026) is a task-scam report: a $100 trial, a $1,000 PayPal order, a dashboard showing 30% profit, then a further $2,900 demanded before any withdrawal. The complainant wrote that they do not believe the real Multicoin Capital is the scammer. Reported loss $1,000. A separate BBB report (3 August 2025) describes a fake job text using the same name.

Checking out is not the same as closed: the complaints against Multicoin Capital are under active investigation, and none of the facts above protects you from a fake. Most 'multicoin capital scam' searches trace to impersonators, not the platform itself — the ones that don't are the reason we investigate.

One more thing before you deposit: the complaints around Multicoin Capital are under investigation — by us, not by a regulator. If a mentor on Telegram assigned you “orders”, showed a balance, and then required the next prepayment, you were not a client of Multicoin Capital. The CNMV domains tilova.top and rcsl.it are not the firm's site. Type multicoin.capital yourself. Do not pay the next task.

Sort your situation

Real-platform dispute or impersonation fraud?

Both feel identical from the inside. They are fixed by completely different routes — and the fastest way to tell them apart is to ask three questions.

If it is the real platform: your dispute runs through its formal complaints process, then the regulator or ombudsman. Slow, but it usually works. The real firm's disputes, if you are actually an investor in one of its funds, are fund documents and US securities law. A WhatsApp instructor is neither.

If it was an impersonator: you were never a customer of Multicoin Capital at all. A clone site, a fake “account manager”, a lookalike domain — the money went to criminals, not to the platform. That is fraud, and speed decides what can be recovered.

The three questions: did you type the official domain yourself, or follow a link, advert or message? Did anyone contact you first? Were you asked to pay a personal account or a different domain? If any answer is wrong, treat it as impersonation — and start here.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Multicoin Capital a scam?

No — Multicoin Capital is a real business: Multicoin Capital is a known US crypto investment firm. It is not a retail broker, it does not recruit strangers into daily “tasks”, and it does not ask for a PayPal or crypto prepayment to unlock a balance. The scam stories you see online usually trace to fakes borrowing its name — and the ones that don't are part of our active investigation. But read the note above first — the business is real, and so are the caveats.

Is Multicoin Capital regulated?

Yes — Multicoin Capital is a known US crypto investment firm. It is not a retail broker, it does not recruit strangers into daily “tasks”, and it does not ask for a PayPal or crypto prepayment to unlock a balance. You can verify it yourself on the public register of the named regulator.

I lost money to someone claiming to be Multicoin Capital — is that the real company?

Almost certainly not. Impersonators borrow the name, the logo, even the licence number. The real company knows nothing about it. Keep every message, receipt, URL and wallet address — that evidence is what an investigation builds on.

I paid a fake Multicoin Capital site. What is enough to send?

The domain you actually used, the date, and whether it was a card, a bank transfer, or crypto. Or the name of the person who told you to pay. Or one screenshot. Where the same payment shows up from other people, those files can sit together as a class action. The first look is free.

How do I check the Multicoin Capital site I used is genuine?

Type the official domain yourself — multicoin.capital — never follow a link from an advert, email or message. Then check the regulator's public register, which lists the firm's genuine website. If your domain differs by even one character, it was a fake.
