FOREX Review — Is FOREX a Scam?

No — FOREX is a real business. But the scam reports around it are under active investigation, and if you lost money to someone using its name, that is exactly what we investigate.

The short answer: FOREX is real — but read this before you hand over any money

FOREX is FOREX AB — the Swedish currency-exchange and travel-money chain (bureaux de change, travel card, insurance) — not an online forex broker at all, despite what its Trustpilot score suggests. These are the facts that check out on public registers — the complaint record is what our review is still working through:

  • A real, long-established Swedish financial-services business: FOREX AB operates physical currency-exchange locations and the FOREX credit card (issued with Entercard Group AB as creditor) — a bureau de change, not a CFD broker.
  • The company answers its reviews and says so plainly: “FOREX sells and buys travel currency and does not trade in cryptocurrency” — its own response to a scam victim who reviewed the wrong FOREX.
  • Genuine customers rate it well: positive reviews cite fair prices, quick exchanges and helpful staff.

Checking out is not the same as closed: the complaints against FOREX are under active investigation, and none of the facts above protects you from a fake. Most 'forex scam' searches trace to impersonators, not the platform itself — the ones that don't are the reason we investigate.

One more thing before you deposit: the complaints around FOREX are under investigation — by us, not by a regulator. The review page is a category-confusion accident. The 1.5/5 across ~211 reviews includes: victims of fraudsters posing as “FOREX” brokers leaving 1-star “scam” reviews on the travel-money company; generic crypto-broker scam boilerplate aimed at impersonators; and genuine but harsh AML-friction complaints — Swedish anti-money-laundering law (penningtvättslagen) requires strict questioning for cash exchanges, which customers experience as hostile (“they think every customer is a gangster”, Mar 2026), plus branch-level rudeness and exchange-rate dissatisfaction. The financial danger around this brand is the impersonation itself: scammers borrow the name precisely because it sounds like a forex broker.

Sort your situation

Real-platform dispute or impersonation fraud?

Both feel identical from the inside. They are fixed by completely different routes — and the fastest way to tell them apart is to ask three questions.

If it is the real platform: your dispute runs through its formal complaints process, then the regulator or ombudsman. Slow, but it usually works. If you lost money to an online “FOREX broker”: you were almost certainly dealing with an impersonator, not this Swedish chain — and that is a fraud case worth investigating. Verify any financial-service domain character by character, and check the Swedish Finansinspektionen register for the real company’s status. If you are reviewing the travel service, the AML questioning is the law, not suspicion of you personally.

If it was an impersonator: you were never a customer of FOREX at all. A clone site, a fake “account manager”, a lookalike domain — the money went to criminals, not to the platform. That is fraud, and speed decides what can be recovered.

The three questions: did you type the official domain yourself, or follow a link, advert or message? Did anyone contact you first? Were you asked to pay a personal account or a different domain? If any answer is wrong, treat it as impersonation — and start here.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is FOREX a scam?

No — FOREX is a real business: A real, long-established Swedish financial-services business: FOREX AB operates physical currency-exchange locations and the FOREX credit card (issued with Entercard Group AB as creditor) — a bureau de change, not a CFD broker. The scam stories you see online usually trace to fakes borrowing its name — and the ones that don't are part of our active investigation. But read the note above first — the business is real, and so are the caveats.

Is FOREX regulated?

Different from a broker’s licence: FOREX AB is a Swedish payment/currency business, and the register to check is Finansinspektionen (the Swedish FSA), not the FCA. It is a bureau de change and card issuer — it holds no retail forex-broker licence because it is not a forex broker.

I lost money to someone claiming to be FOREX — is that the real company?

Almost certainly not. Impersonators borrow the name, the logo, even the licence number. The real company knows nothing about it. Keep every message, receipt, URL and wallet address — that evidence is what an investigation builds on.

I paid a fake FOREX site. What is enough to send?

The domain you actually used, the date, and whether it was a card, a bank transfer, or crypto. Or the name of the person who told you to pay. Or one screenshot. Where the same payment shows up from other people, those files can sit together as a class action. The first look is free.

How do I check the FOREX site I used is genuine?

Type the official domain yourself — forex.se — never follow a link from an advert, email or message. Then check the regulator's public register, which lists the firm's genuine website. If your domain differs by even one character, it was a fake.
